Often, after a long winter in which it has been too cold to venture outside and, indeed, too wet, snowy and windy to get very far from the heater and the couch, we begin to feel a little sluggish and inactive. It is important, after a period of very low physical activity that we get out and start to move around again. There is a wide variety of ways in which this might be achieved.
To begin with, it is often a good idea to join a gym. You will find, that whether you live in London or LA fitness offers are abound at every establishment so that getting back into shape shouldn't have to cost you a fortune.
Alternatively, you can take up running as a means by which to help you to get fit again. Start with a few short but brisk walks in order to get yourheart accustomedin to a raised rate. From here, try to complete brief intervals of running followed by a few minutes of walking and then gradually shorten your walk periods until these disappear entirely.
If you are not keen on either the gym or on the option of road running, you might consider joining a local sports team in a bid to get yourself back into shape. Pick an activity you enjoy – if you're a football fan, join a football club, for example. This will help you to gain new insights into your favourite sport, and will also help you to improve your physical fitness in the process.
Getting fit after a long period of low activity is not easy. It requires endurance, stamina and real tenacity to do it successfully. Whichever option you decide to choose, try to follow it through until you see results; you won't be disappointed!
